## Overall Evaluation Process

The evaluation of a Bilan Carbone® involves several steps, each of which may concern one or more stakeholders. To get into the details of this process, a diagram is provided in the [Assessment Evaluation Guide](/english/annexes/bibliographie.md#guide-devaluation-des-bilans).

## Structure of an Evaluation

The evaluation carried out by [authorised experts](/english/7-evaluation-and-quality-of-the-bilan-carbone-r/7.1-preparer-levaluation-de-son-bilan.md) is structured in four steps:

1. The **collection of general information** specific to the evaluation for monitoring and traceability purposes
2. The evaluation of **prerequisites** for the various methods
3. The evaluation of compliance with **methodological criteria**
4. The evaluation of **orders of magnitude, consistency of the assessment and relevance of its transition plan**

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="General information" %}
This first step of the evaluation aims to bring together information concerning the evaluation itself for monitoring and traceability purposes.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Prerequisites" %}
This step aims to verify that the prerequisites for the evaluation have been met. This may concern the availability of documents required for the evaluation, the training of the project team that carried out the Bilan Carbone®, the tool used to carry out the assessment, hierarchical involvement...

If there is a failure on at least one of these points, the review of the methodological criteria that follows cannot result in an assessment that is verified and validated according to the evaluation guide.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Methodological criteria" %}
This step concerns proper compliance with the Bilan Carbone® method as described in this guide. For each maturity level, the various criteria ([summarised here](/english/1-scoping-the-approach/1.1-definir-son-niveau-de-maturite-bilan-carbone-r.md)) are to be evaluated.

The evaluation of each criterion goes through the study of the supporting documents requested in [section 6.1](https://www.bilancarbone-methode.com/6-synthese-et-restitution/6.1-restitution-du-bilan-carbone-r), the evaluation method is specified in the [Assessment Evaluation Guide](https://www.bilancarbone-methode.com/annexes/bibliographie#guide-devaluation-des-bilans) and is explored in depth during evaluator training courses delivered by the ABC.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Consistency and Relevance" %}
This step allows the evaluator to step back from the information that meets the requirements of the methods.

The evaluation team, having expertise in terms of carbon accounting and more particularly in the sector of activity of the organisation, verifies the **consistency of the evaluated assessment** as well as the **relevance of the transition plan**.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

More information and details on what is evaluated are available in the [Assessment Evaluation Guide](/english/annexes/bibliographie.md#guide-devaluation-des-bilans).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://www.bilancarbone-methode.com/english/7-evaluation-and-quality-of-the-bilan-carbone-r/7.2-le-process-devaluation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
